Little Things that made me, me

Narrator: Tabitha of The Pairabirds

You don't realize how much your childhood reflects in your artwork, until you look back.

There was a thread floating around about favorite Sesame Street shorts. I didn't hesitate to say the Pinball Counting Cartoon.

The Pointer Sisters taught us to count to 12 while riding through a trippy, colorful pinball machine. The song was not just funky, but it was an unusual sound to my born-in-the-80s-ears. My 80s ears were accoustomed to sythesized instruments. But, this toon from '72 opened my ears to a real drum, real steel drums, a real saxophone... pure.

I didn't know as a young girl that this songs feel, tone, melody, rhythm, and soul would creep into my art or my whole being. I can't even count to twelve without singing it. Enjoy this video.
