New Art: Cat Figurines

Two new additions to the Plastic Zoo, Strutting Cat and Cat Sitting. These tiny figurines were painted in white and gold. They are protected with a glossy varnish.

Both animals are now available.

Mid June Thrift Store Finds: Oh Deer

The bookends I wanted to get weren't at the thrift store anymore. But, I did find a cute brass deer sculpture. He's heavy enough to work as a bookend. The deer was a bit of a splurge ($5).

I scraped up some new books, too.

Midwives by Chris Bohjalian
The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
The Hours by Michael Cunningham
Carolina Moon by Jill McCorkle
Back When We were Grownups by Anne Tyler

Oh, and 2001 Metra Train pass and Areoport Dorval Montreal receipt were stuck in The Hours.

Damage done: a little over $10. Deer me.

Saturday Special: Yippie Skippie! A book light with my Snuggie

Blankets are so cumbersome!
I wish there was a way to stay warm and be able to move around...

Yay! Snuggie!

If you haven't seen this infomercial, you are missing out.

Okay, let's think this through.
You pretty much have a blanket with sleeves. Or, a backwards bathrobe.
You can wear this to football games, and be mistaken for a monk.
Everyone else at the game are wearing knitted hats in the winter. In your Snuggie, your head and ears stay warm just by its cosmic power.
One size fits all, so you 5 year old can swap his blue with grandpappy's red one. Don't want any fashion faux pas. Blue Snuggie, red shoes, no, no.

But wait, how could I forget? You can get a Book Light, a $15 value, for free. Nevermind that I got the same book light for a value of 2 for $5 at Walgreens two years ago.

So, is Snuggie on your Christmas list? If you don't have the funds, well just dig up your old Starter jacket from the basement, or that tweed blazer that was popular 4 years ago and wear it Kris Kross style.

I wish I had this cute mug to hold hot coffee, whilst I eat my toast. Chococat and Pochacco are my favorite Sanrio characters (sorry, Hello Kitty). I found this mug while browsing Flickr. The kawaii mug belongs to illustrator Abigail Halpin.

Check out more of her photostream.
And, check out her lovely portfolio.
