End of May Thrift Store Finds: Shirts and Books.

First stop on Saturday was Salvation Army. Their clothing racks were packed in preparation for their Memorial Day Sale on Monday.

It was "shirt day", for me. When shopping at thrift stores you have to focus on looking for a specific thing. Otherwise you'll wander around aimlessly. Or, get distracted by really odd housewares.

Besides having packed racks, SA also packed their bookshelves. They received a huge shipment of novels. I don't normally buy books there. Mainly because the selection was so small (partly because the aisle is normally field with random toys). However, I made the exception. Why? 5 books for $1, is why.

The paper doll book is missing the dolls. But, the clothing and some of the beaus are still there. And, it was 20 cents.

Next stop was Goodwill. Lots of bestsellers on the shelves. That doesn't necessarily mean the book was any good *coughcoughTheDaVinciCodecoughcough*, but at least I can see what's the big deal about the book. Copies of Wicked, White Teeth, Memoirs of a Geisha were among the pack (and for a fraction of the price). Since I already own/read those three books, I didn't buy those.

May Thrift Store Finds: Books and Insect

There were waaaay too many romance novels at Goodwill. Plus, two of the shelves used for adult fiction was used to house VHS movies. Really? Two shelves to hold discarded Adam Sandler and Pauly Shore movies and The Funniest Goofs in Golf '94 videos?

He was only $1.99. It has a bit of weight to it, so it may be a paperweight.
All in all, decent day looking for books at the thrift shop. Found some novels and little guy to keep them company.

April Thrift Store Finds: Books

I treated myself to books. For reading, not making into art.
Since our local library no longer has their "$5 bag sales," digging up books locally on the cheap is a little more difficult.

I always tell myself to see what they have, but somehow get distracted by other items (oooh, another corduroy bag! ooooh, a nice wallet!).
Last month I decide to browse our local thrift store/s for books. Eighty-nine cents for paperbacks isn't bad. I ended up with 8 books for $7.69. The books were:

Tears of the Giraffe by Alexander McCall Smith (the book is part of the book series based on the TV show with Jill Scott. I didn't realize that at the time)
